Most businesses in the food and beverage industry will be well aware of the huge potential for food imports in the Chinese market. However, China’s market is highly competitive, even amongst foreign importers. This tough competition, along with China’s strict regulatory environment , may provide substantial hurdles to those businesses who have not prepared for China’s unique challenges. This presentation will give a high level overview of the regulatory environment relevant to brand promotion and protection in China’s food and beverage import industry and will discuss recent trends in IP protection.
In particular, the speakers will touch on:
- the impact of the PRC Cross-border E-Commerce Pilot Program on food imports
- the requirements for food tracing and food additives
- advertising and labelling requirements
- the rise of professional anti-counterfeit fighters or professional consumers
- key IP trends – criminal enforcement and expansion of brand protection
The European Chamber is delighted to welcome speakers from Baker McKenzie, Carrefour and Tate and Lyle to share with participants their views on IP Protection in the food and beverage sector in China.
