It has been widely reported in the press that on 6 January 2018, the Cyberspace Administration of China invited Alipay and Sesame Credit Management for a discussion and expressed its concern over the potential violation of the spirit of the national standard/guidelines of "Information Security Technology – Personal Information Security Specification" on the manner at which personal information is collected by Alipay and Sesame Credit Management.
