Dear PCOG Working Group Member,
Please note this email contains several key updates for the PCOG Working Group that include Working Group Elections, Change in Business Managers, and an invitation to the next Working Group Meeting.
We are pleased to invite you to the next PCOG Working Group Meeting that will take place on Wednesday, 19th March at Total Petrochemical’s offices in Beijing [28/F China World Tower 1, No.1 Jianguomenwai Dajie Tel: 010 6505 2921] from 1430-1630. This presentation will be given by Weber Shandwick. In addition we will also hold 2008 PCOG Working Group Elections and discuss recommendations for the 2008 Position Paper.
Proposed Agenda
1) Presentation by Weber Shandwick
2) Election of Chair / vice Chairs
3)Brief summary on the event messages
4)First selection of the 2008 Position Paper topics and task allocation
5)Update on the NDRC forum and the SEPA action plan
Please confirm your participation at this meeting by registering with Mr. Piers Barber at pbarber@euccc.com.cn by March 17th.
As you may know, the PCOG Working Chair and Vice Chairs play a crucial role in driving the Working Group which includes the drafting of the Position Paper, communicating key messages to the Chinese and European Government, and steering the Working Group meetings. The desired characteristics of a Chair and Vice Chair are a senior industry representative with relevant industry expertise and government contacts that has the time and willingness to support the group. Previous participation in the Working Group is also highly valued.
Although the 2007 Chair and Vice Chairs have all graciously expressed their willingness to continue in their respective roles, they along with the Chamber Secretariat encourage any other member that may be interested to also put forth his/her candidature. Anyone who is possibly interested in running for the position of Chair or Vice Chair is therefore kindly requested to inform the Chamber, tbrooks@euccc.com.cn, by March 14th.
In addition, we will also continue our discussions on the Position Paper for 2008. As the Position Paper forms the basis of all our lobbying, members are strongly encouraged to consult widely within their own company in advance so that they can then table such recommendations for discussion at this meeting. (Attached for your reference are the PCOG WG Position Paper recommendations for 2007).
Finally, please note that Tony Brooks has just taken over the Chamber lead for the PCOG Working Group. Tony will be based in Shanghai but will make a special trip to Beijing for the March 19th Working Group meeting (and the Annual Event), in order to meet Working Group Members.
