In 2017, 233,000 environmental violations were investigated and prosecuted, representing a year-on-year increase of 69 per cent to the year before. The results of 2018 are being consolidated: on 19thJanuary 2019, the Ministry of Environment and Protection finished their annual work meeting to review the progress of their work in 2018 and to arrange the focus of their work for 2019.
In this meeting, 12 key items have been put forward for the year of 2019, such as “proactively pushing the green development in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Integrated Area, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Great Bay Area, resolutely driving forward the war for a blue sky, clear water and clean soil, vigorously advancing the administration supervision and law enforcement, ...”
Similar to 2018, impacts are expected on businesses in China in 2019, especially on domestic companies, many of which are supplying European companies. However, while the majority of impacted companies have been domestic enterprises, also several European companies were hit directly, mostly by policies aiming at reshaping the industrial and urban landscapes.
The European Chamber is pleased to invite you to join experts from Academia and consultancy to learn more about China’s plan for 2019 and how this may impact European businesses in China, directly and via their supply chains. You will have the chance to discuss with some of the people involved with the development of these plans. The focus of this seminar will be on the solutions and strategies companies can take to identify and to mitigate risk to their operations and supply chain, especially as we move towards this year’s plan.
