The European Chamber is pleased to invite you to the next Construction Working Group Meeting which will be held on Tuesday, April 8th, from 9:00 am to around 10:30 am at the European Chamber Office in Beijing.
Proposed Agenda
1. Secretary General Michael O'Sullivan will talk briefly about the Dual Membership Rule and the upcoming Annual General Meeting on April 17th
2. Annual Elections for WG Chair and Vice Chair
3. Discussion of Position Paper Key Recommendations and identification of possible leads
4. General Discussion on the construction industry in China, including the recent NPC decision to turn the MoC into a super-ministry called the "Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Construction"
5. Discussion on the desirability of holding joint events with other Construction WGs for informal networking/information sharing events
As you may know, the Chairs and Vice Chairs play crucial roles in driving the the Working Group, which include the drafting of the Position Paper, communicating key messages to Chinese and European governments, and steering the Working Group meetings. A Chair or Vice Chair should be a senior industry representative with relevant industry expertise and government contacts who has the time and willingness to support the group. Previous participation in the Working Group is also highly valued.
Any member who is interested in running for the position of Chair or Vice Chair is therefore kindly requested to inform Max Quillen (mquillen@euccc.com.cn) by March 31st.
In addition, we will also begin our discussions on the Position Paper for 2008. Specifically, we will go through the Key Recommendations summary and decide which ones are still relevant and if anything needs to be added. As the Position Paper forms the basis of all our lobbying, members are strongly encouraged to consult widely within their own company in advance so that they can then table such recommendations for discussion at this meeting.
We hope you can all participate in this important meeting. If you can attend, please reply to Max Quillen (mquillen@euccc.com.cn) by close of business on April 3rd.
