The ICT and Cybersecurity Working Groups are pleased to invite you to a joint working group meeting, taking place on Wednesday 13 March, from 14h to 16h, at the European Chamber Beijing and Shanghai Offices.
During the meeting, we will examine how recent changes to global dynamics and the ICT regulatory landscape will impact the business community in China. Bruce Fu, Senior Director & Co-lead of the Global Tech Practice at APCO Worldwide will comment on US-China relations; Isabelle Hajjar, Head of Compliance at TekID will present on the implementation hurdles & complexities posed by the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the China Personal Information Security Specification (also known as the Chinese GDPR); and Caroline Chen, Head of Business Development at Deutsche Telekom will give an update on China’s VPN policies. In addition, we will also discuss about 2019 working group and Position Paper priorities (see attached 2018/2019 Position Paper).
With this occasion, the 2019 Chair elections of the ICT and Cybersecurity Working Groups will be held. The Chair shall play a key role in driving the development of the Group. With support from the Chamber secretariat, he or she shall promote the Group’s activities and communicate targeted messages on behalf of industry to policy makers and key stakeholders in China and Europe. The Chair shall also serve as spokesperson to raise the Group’s visibility in the media and at relevant events when appropriate. The Vice Chairs shall play a supporting role to the Chair of the Group. The Vice Chairs assist the Chair when needed in driving the development of the Group and can also represent the Group in communicating messages to policy makers and stakeholders in China and Europe. In the absence of the Chair, the Vice Chairs shall take over the responsibilities of the Chair.

Attached please find the bios and motivation letters of all the candidates. Voting for the elections, one vote per company, must be conducted in person at the working group meeting after each candidate has had the opportunity to give a short speech on why they would like to run for election. The duration of the term for both the Chair and the Vice Chairs is one year. All elected Chairpersons must sign the attached Code of Conduct.
