Dear Working Group Members,
The European Chamber is happy to invite you to the kick-off meeting of the Standards and Conformity Assessment Working Group (SCA WG), which will take place on the 18th March 2019, from 15:30 to 17:30 at the European Chamber’s Beijing, Shanghai and South China offices. Participants from other cities can join the meeting through a conference call, the code for which will be notified prior to the meeting.
The main topics for this meeting will be the revision of the activities of the WG in 2018, as well as the establishment of the WG priorities for 2019 and the discussion on the upcoming SCA WG Position Paper. Thus, members are strongly encouraged to join the discussion and provide input on these key issues will likely shape the activities of the WG this year. Chair Election:
As mentioned above, the 2019 SCA WG Chair Election will take place during this meeting. The WG Chairs and Vice-Chairs play a crucial role in driving the Working Group through leading the drafting of the Position Paper, communicating key messages to Chinese and European government authorities and steering Working Group meetings.
Should you be interested in putting your name forward for election or nominate any candidate, please send a short biography and a motivation letter, stating whether you intend to run for Chair or Vice Chair and your plans to promote the working group to Ms. Ester Cañada Amela at ecamela@europeanchamber.com.cn in Beijing, Ms. Lizi Chen at lchen@europeanchamber.com.cn in Shanghai and Ms. Pingrui Zhao at przhao@europeanchamber.com.cn in South China by Wednesday, 13th March COB.
In accordance with European Chamber internal guidelines, another email will be sent to the Working Group prior to the election, with the biographies and motivation letters of all candidates attached. Members are allowed one vote per company, which must be conducted in person at the Working Group meeting after each candidate has had the opportunity to give a short speech on why they would like to run for election. The duration of the term for both Chairs and Vice Chairs is one year. All elected Chairpersons must sign the Code of Conduct following the election.
