Dear Environment Working Group Members,
We are delighted to invite you to attend the next Environment Working Group meeting which will take place at the European Chamber's office in Shanghai on Wednesday, 30th April at 09:00. This meeting will be entirely focused on writing the Position Paper so we advise that attendees come well prepared to contribute to this meeting.
Agenda
Position Paper Recommendations
We have now started our discussions on the Position Paper for 2008. As the Position Paper forms the basis of all our lobbying, members are strongly encouraged to consult widely within their own company in advance so that they can then table such recommendations for discussion at our next meeting. Alternatively, please forward your recommendations to me in advance of the meeting.
Working Group Chair Elections
At the next Working Group meeting, we will hold the 2008 Environment Working Group Elections. As you may know, the Environment Working Chair and Vice Chair play a crucial role in driving the the Working Group which includes the drafting of the Position Paper, communicating key messages to the Chinese and European Government, and steering the Working Group meetings. The desired characteristics of a Chair and Vice Chair are a senior industry representative with relevant industry expertise and government contacts that has the time and willingness to support the group. Previous participation in the Working Group is also highly valued.
Although the 2007 Chair and Vice Chairs have graciously expressed their willingness to continue in their respective roles, they along with the Chamber Secretariat encourage any other member that may be interested to also put forth his/her candidature. Anyone who is possibly interested in running for the position of Chair or Vice Chair is therefore kindly requested to inform the Chamber, dusher@euccc.com.cn as soon as possible.
Please register your attendance at the next Environment WG meeting by emailing Ms Alice Drihem at adrihem@euccc.com.cn by Monday, 28th April.
