Please note the second presentation will be given in Chinese only without translation.
The European Chamber is pleased to invite you to a joint working group meeting titled Managing Personal Information Protection with Standards. It will take place in the form of a workshop, on Wednesday 8 May, from 14h to 16h30, at our Beijing Office.
As a result of the introduction of the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the China Cybersecurity Law, it has become important for organisations to find ways to demonstrate compliance with both frameworks and avoid the potential fines associated. During the workshop, we will have the pleasure of welcoming Willy Fabritius, Global Product Champion for Information and Organisational Resilience of British Standards Institution (BSI) & Lead Auditor for ISO 9001 / ISO 20000 / ISO 27001, and Bangcai Wu, Senior ICT Consultant at BSI to explain through interactive discussions and concrete case studies, how standards contribute to organisations’ personal information protection efforts. Both experts have been heavily involved in the auditing of Fortune 500 companies.
Willy will take an international perspective on personal information protection and focus on:
- An overview to the GDPR and certification to relevant ISO standards
- A glossary and introduction to key terminology and definitions
- The six key principles of the GDPR and how they apply to a business setting
- Roles and responsibilities when gathering, managing and retaining data
- The importance of data protection including remote working
- Identifying data hazards and effective methods to avoid security breaches
Bangcai will seek to bridge international practices with China specifics, by explaining (in Chinese):
- The relevant standards and other bases for personal information protection in China
- How GDPR is adopted in China, viewed in conjunction with the Cybersecurity Law and the Personal Information Security Specification
- Concrete examples from technical and management measures adopted by Chinese domestic companies
