Traditionally, while many foreign enterprises prefer to resolve disputes with Chinese counterparts through arbitration outside mainland China, there has been no legal basis to secure enforcement of provisional awards in China during an arbitration proceeding. However, a recent legal development in China should provide international companies with additional considerations.
In early April, Hong Kong and mainland China agreed to an arrangement enabling Hong Kong-seated arbitrations to seek interim measures from courts in the mainland, an option which was previously only available for arbitrations seated in Mainland China. What does this mean for companies seeking to solve their China-related disputes?
The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China is delighted to welcome a range of speakers with extensive experience in arbitration to share their insights on this latest development and discuss the possible advantages that it brings to foreign businesses.
To formulate a better discussion, we would like to collect your questions or specific issues of interest prior to this seminar. Please kindly send in your questions or topics to Sitong He (sthe@europeanchamber.com.cn).
