Dear Working Group Member,
The unmatched speed of urban development in China has increased the demand for sustainable strategic urban renewal. This key strategy allows local governments to tackle pressing issues such as the environment, best and highest use of real estate, and economic and social demands. Today, China boasts a wide range of urban renewal sites and thus, huge opportunities for city redevelopment going forward.
Andrea Destefanis of Kokaistudios; David Shi of Cushman and Wakefield; and Manjo Mehta and Judy Zhu of naked Group will discuss an interesting array of topics around urban design and its increasing importance in China’s growing cities.
The presentations will be followed by a tour of Sinan Mansions, a historical “open air museum” that represents a prime example of successful urban renovation in China. The tour will be led by site’s owner. Space on the tour is very limited, so you must RSVP by email.
