Current outbreak of the novel coronavirus significantly disrupts business operations across China. Businesses and their employees face unprecedented challenges in many different aspects. Ms. Paula Yu
Paula Yu is a senior partner of SF Lawyers (上海睿威律师事务所). Yu obtained her Master’s Degree from Johns Hopkins University and Juris Doctor from New York University School of Law. Having studied and worked in the United States for ten years, Yu was seconded by Kaye Scholer to its Shanghai office in 2007 and has practiced in China ever since. Yu specializes in cross-border transactions, in which she advises multinational corporations on a large variety of legal matters in China and represents Chinese companies in their outbound investments. Yu has received a number of awards, including the 2020 Corporate and M&A Lawyer award from Chambers and Partners, the 2019 Top 15 M&A Lawyers award from ALB, the “2018 Best M&A Lawyer” award and “2017 Best M&A Lawyer” award from the China Mergers and Acquisitions Association, the “2017 Top 10 M&A Persons” award from the Zhejiang Investment and M&A Association and Phoenix, and the “2017 Golden Whistle Award for Chinese Overseas M&A Legal Advisory Services” from the Morning Whistle Group.

Mr. Alex Ma
Alex is a qualified lawyer in Hong Kong specialising in employment law and data privacy laws. Alex was also an in-house legal counsel overseeing employment matters in the broader Asia Pacific region for an international bank.
On the employment side Alex advises on all kinds of non-contentious and contentious matters.
On the non-contentious side, Alex assists all sorts of corporates on restructuring its personnel arrangements, including transfer, secondments, change of role and location. Alex also assists clients to draft various employment related documentation including contracts, remuneration plans, handbooks, policies and employee communications.
On the contentious side, Alex is experienced in advising on high risk employee terminations, conducting investigations on employee fraud and wrongdoing, assisting with labour tribunal, civil and inland revenue cases.
On the data privacy side, Alex has experience advising multinational companies across industries on various data protection and personal data privacy issues, including its collection, use, storage, disclosure, transfer and destruction. In particular, Alex has helped clients to prepare data privacy related documents, manage data privacy related risks and handle international transfer of privacy data.

Ms. Vivian Zhou
Vivian led and participated in a number of large-scale projects as project director, and continued to provide a full range of Chinese personal income tax services for a number of well-known large-scale companies. Including tax consultation, tax planning, equity incentives, social insurance, foreign exchange, tax compliance (monthly reporting, annual reconciliation tax return, tax filing on overseas income) and special requirements services (tax notarization, overseas remittance, assist with tax audits, etc.).
Vivian provided Chinese and overseas personal tax advisory services for high-net-worth clients of Chinese or foreign nationality. Clients include: founder and major shareholders of private owned enterprises, VC investors, PE partners, senior executives, etc. Vivian helps review their global asset and income structure and identify tax planning opportunities on the basis of tax compliance. She also assists with setting up pre-IPO trusts and family trusts, and provides ongoing tax advisory service.
Before joining KPMG China, Vivian worked in London office, providing personal tax services to large multinational companies based in the UK and high-net-worth individuals immigrating to the UK.
