Dear Members and Friends,
The European Union Chamber of Commerce in Nanjing, together with the European Union Chamber of Commerce in Shenyang and SME Center, is thrilled to invite you to participate in the Webinar on March 5th to assist you to properly understand IP Protection Strategies on E-commerce Platforms. This event will be in English.
China is the world’s largest e-commerce market, with platforms like JD, Alibaba and Pinduoduo offering a quick and convenient way of shopping to hundreds of millions of Chinese customers, in some cases delivering products within the matter of minutes. It can almost be said, if you’re not selling on e-commerce platforms in China, you don’t exist on China’s market. It is only natural then, that a large part of intellectual property (IP) infringements including counterfeiting and unauthorized distribution and advertising happen on e-commerce platforms. The current coronavirus situation has further aggravated online counterfeiting, especially in sectors connected to medical supplies, like face masks and pharmaceuticals but also in cosmetics and other sectors. As customers worry about counterfeit products, online counterfeiting could have a more significant impact on your brand and your company than the current coronavirus.
A strong IP protection strategy on e-commerce platforms is thus vital for European SMEs to succeed in China’s market. During this webinar, Ms. Elinor Greenhouse, IP Business Advisor to the China IPR SME Helpdesk delves into the main types of IP infringements on e-commerce platforms and provides tips for you to develop a comprehensive IP protection strategy on e-commerce platforms. She will be focusing on issues from trademark to copyright infringements and explain how notice and takedown procedures work as one of the most cost-efficient form of online IP protection.
