2020 Kick-off Meeting: Agriculture, Food and Beverage Working Group Elections and 2020 Position Paper Discussion

Hope you and your family are doing well during this critical time!
The European Chamber is pleased to invite you to the next AFB Working Group Meeting/ 2020-2021 Chair elections, which will be held on Friday, 20th March, from 10:00 to 11:30 via the digital platform Zoom. Only AFB Working Group members who have their confirmed registration for this meeting will have the right to vote online, with one vote per company. Online voting instructions and online meeting link will be sent via email to individual attendees prior to the meeting.
After having a rather peaceful year of 2019, we embraced a turbulent beginning of the year 2020. Besides the COVID-19 outbreak influencing every one of us, our agriculture, food and beverage sector is also under the impact of revision of several relevant laws, some under drafting and some calling for comments, but all estimated to have major influences on the sector. The WG meeting will be composed of a review of last year's work done by the working group, the 2020-2021 Chair elections and a 2020/2021 AFB Position Paper Discussion.

During this meeting we will hold our 2020-2021 chair elections. Working Group members interested in running for this year’s Chair elections, should take notice of the following:
Roles and Responsibilities
The Chairperson and Vice Chairs play a crucial role in driving the Working Group, including a leadership role in the drafting of the Position Paper, communicating key messages to Chinese and European government authorities and steering Working Group meetings. The desired characteristics of a Chair and Vice Chairs are senior industry representatives with relevant expertise and government contacts who have the time and willingness to support the Working Group. Previous participation in the Working Group is essential. Before applying for the position of Chair or Vice-chair, we recommend that you obtain approval from your company.
The maximum duration of Chairperson or Vice Chairperson of a working group is three consecutive years. Candidates are only eligible for Chair or Vice Chair positions if he/she is physically based in China.
The Chairs and Vice-Chairs should represent different sectors and issues, therefor we encourage employees across industries as well as candidates both of Regulatory Affairs and Government Affairs background to apply for elections. If you are interested in the positions of Chair or Vice Chair, please read the attached Starter Kit for Chairs and submit the following information to me:
- Resume/CV
- Motivation letter on why you wish to be elected Chair or Vice Chair, including:
- how your background and experience match the role
- the goals you have for the AFB working group over the following 12 months
- how you intend to utilise or share professional resources for the benefit of the Working Group
