The European Chamber is excited to announce our Sustainable Business Awards (SBA) 2020 applications are now available to all interested organisations. If you were unable to attend the information session which took place on 4th June, detailing the categories, requirements and evaluation criteria, find out what you missed below.

The application period starts on 5th June 2020 and will close on 5th July 2020, at midnight.

The second information session for companies interested in learning more about the Awards will take place on 30th June at 4pm, China time. Please register for the information session here.

What are the Sustainable Business Awards?

Since being established in 2017, the European Chamber SBA has been continuously improving, growing, and promoting awareness. In collaboration with our knowledge partner, SYNTAO, the objective of the European Chamber SBA is to:

• highlight innovative leadership achievement,
• advance sustainability awareness, and
• promote responsible business models.

What’s New This Year?

• Application eligibility has expanded to all companies and organisations, whether they are members or not of the European Chamber.
• Categories are adapted to best reflect CSR standards and continue to follow United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goal’s and China’s long-term policy on poverty alleviation and environmental protection.
• There will be two separate awards for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) for each category.

What are the Awards Categories?

Each category will require a detailed strategy and policy; stakeholder engagement; practice and measures, organizational structure and other factors implemented by the company or organization.

• Advocate in Combating Poverty
• COVID-19 Crisis Response
• Navigating Diversity and Inclusion
• Outstanding Environmental and Climate Performance
• Social Innovation Pioneer.

Why Should You Apply?

• Demonstrate your company’s leadership in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR);
• Promote your brands at the awards ceremony on 17th September. This year’s ceremony will feature the 20th anniversary of the European Chamber and will be the largest Chamber event in Shanghai. Hundreds of attendees will witness this important moment with you.
• Winners’ companies or organisations will be invited to CEO Talks to share their cases.

What to expect?

Members of the European Chamber do not have an application fee, non-members do have a 2,500 RMB application fee. Please keep in mind applications close 5^th July 2020 and we encourage applicants to submit any relevant questions as soon as possible. When applying keep in mind we are looking for:

• Holistic demonstration on strategy, goals and mechanisms
• One thorough and detailed case
• Data and strong evidence to show your impact
• Leadership and forward thinking

How will Winners be Celebrated?

On 17th September 2020, the European Chamber will host a ceremony in Shanghai to award the winners of this year's edition. This event will be jointly organised with our 20-Year Anniversary Celebration with the presence of members, partners, representatives from EU Member States Consulates and media.
