The European Chamber launched the initial cycle of Cross-industry Mentor Initiative (CIMI) end of 2019, with a focus on improving female representation at senior management and board level in China. CIMI is exclusive to members of European Chamber and provides the opportunity for a learning experience for both mentor and mentee.

The European Chamber is honored to invite you to attend the closed-door breakfast seminar with Joerg Wuttke, Vice President and Chief Representative of BASF China, President of European Chamber who is one of the mentors for the Cross-industry Mentor Initiative and his mentee Gloria Zhou, Head of Strategy and Business Portfolio at BP China. They will share what they have learned and achieved from the mentorship cycle 1 and discuss the difference between CIMI and other in-house mentoring programmes, especially how to integrate the global thinking into the local acts through the mentoring sessions when dealing with the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This event will be moderated by Sarah Wagner, Project Manager at GIZ.

Cancellation Policy
If you cannot attend the event for which you have registered, please cancel your registration no later than one business day prior to the event. If you fail to notify us of your cancellation in a timely fashion, you will be charged for event costs.

Advisory Council Policy
Members of the Advisory Council may receive complimentary admission to Chamber seminars, conferences and factory visits up to two attendees per event. Additional participants will be charged at the member rate.
Advisory Council members will still be charged the standard member rate for participation in training courses and special events, such as gala balls, government appreciation dinners, or admission to corporate social events/tournaments.

Mr. Jens Eskelund
Mr. Jens Eskelund
Jens Eskelund was born in 1970 in Aarhus, Denmark. He holds an MA in philosophy and has studied at University of Aarhus and University of Texas at Austin. He has also pursued studies in Chinese at Renmin University in Beijing. Coming to Beijing as a student in 1998, Jens Eskelund began his career in China as Commercial Officer at the Danish Embassy to China before taking on a position in marketing for Maersk Line in Beijing in 2000. He has since held positions as General Manager for Public Affairs for Maersk Line in China and later Director of Public Affairs for North Asia before assuming his present role as Chief Representative for Maersk in the Greater China Area and North-East Asia. Primary focus areas comprise engaging government entities, institutions and trade associations on matters of policy, regulatory environment and business development on behalf of the companies within the Maersk Group.
Jens Eskelund is a former Chairman of the Danish Chamber of Commerce in China as well as the Vice President and Chair of Maritime Working Group of the European Chamber. Jens was elected as the President of European Chamber in May 2023.
Jens Eskelund is married and has two sons.
Mr. Jörg Wuttke
Mr. Jörg Wuttke
Jörg Wuttke is Vice President and Chief Representative of BASF China, based in Beijing. Since joining BASF in 1997, Mr. Wuttke has been responsible for helping guide the company’s investment strategies for China, negotiation of large projects and government relations.
Previous to joining BASF, Mr. Wuttke worked with ABB for 11 years; in fact his first professional encounter with China was in 1988 as the Finance and Administration Manager of ABB Beijing. In 1990, he returned to Germany as Sales Manager of ABB Power Plants Division, responsible for gas turbine sales to Africa and Russia. In 1993, he became Chief Representative ABB China in Shanghai and in 1994 moved to the President's Office of ABB China in Beijing, where he was responsible for the development and financing of large projects.
From 2001 to 2004 Mr. Wuttke was the Chairman of the German Chamber of Commerce in China. From 2007 to 2010, 2014 to 2017, and since May 2019 again he is the President of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China
From 2011 to 2019, Mr. Wuttke was Chairman of the BIAC China Task Force of the Business and Industry Advisory Committee to the OECD (BIAC), a Paris based body of major business associations that lobbies the OECD.
From 2013 to 2016, and again since 2019 Mr. Wuttke is Vice Chairman of the CPCIF International Cooperation Committee, a group representing Multinational Companies in China’s Chemical Association.
Since its establishment in 2013, Mr. Wuttke is member of the Advisory Board of Germany’s foremost Think Tank on China, Mercator Institute for China Studies (MERICS), in Berlin.
In January 2019 Mr. Wuttke joined the International Board of the Stars Foundation, in Switzerland. stars - for Leaders of the Next Generation.
Ms. Gloria Zhou
Ms. Gloria Zhou
Ms. Zhou oversees and coordinates BP China’s corporate strategy development across the traditional hydrocarbon value chain and new energy frontiers. Ms. Zhou leads a team to advise BP’s China businesses and BP Group on China market development and energy policies to assist the commercial operations, and to drive BP Group’s long-term investments in China. She also leads hydrogen business development in the region.
Ms. Zhou has worked for BP for 16 years in a number of commercial leadership roles in China and United States cross refining, petrochemicals, and fuel businesses. She was once seconded as the Planning and Strategy Director working in Shanghai SECCO Petrochemical Co, an integrated ethylene cracker and downstream derivative joint venture between BP and Sinopec. She also worked as Finance Director of BP US Northwest Fuels Value/Cherry Point refinery, Head of Control for BP US West Coast Fuels Value Chain, Business Development Director of BP China Refining, Venture Director of BP Petrochemicals’ Olefins and Derivative business, and Controller of BP China Fuels Retail and Convenience business.
Prior to working for BP, Ms. Zhou worked for the US Private Equity firm Cutler Investment Group as a Partner and Portfolio Director in US and China, and for Arthur Andersen in China in her earlier career.
Ms. Zhou received her MBA degree from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and Bachelor of Science degree of Economics from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. She is a Chinese CPA. Ms. Zhou grew up in southwest of China and currently lives with her family in Beijing.
Ms. Sarah Wagner
Ms. Sarah Wagner
Sarah Wagner is project manager at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, where she works on topics related to technical barriers to trade in the areas of digitalization, industry 4.0 and IT security. Before, she acted as Senior Policy Manager for international economic relations at DIGITALEUROPE, representing Europe’s biggest tech trade association towards the European institutions, WTO and OECD.
As ardent promoter of female empowerment, Sarah co-wrote the book Unleash Today, a handbook to help young women maximize their potential in the workplace.
