The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China is pleased to invite you to join a tour and presentation of the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE).
The Shanghai Stock Exchange is one of the two stock exchanges operating independently in Mainland China, the other being the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. The Shanghai Stock Exchange is the world’s 3rd largest stock market by market capitalization at US$ 4 trillion as of November 2018. It is a non-profit organisation directly administered by the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC). The securities listed at the SSE include the three main categories of stocks, bonds and funds.
This event will be divided in two parts. The first part of the event, available to both offline and online attendees, will start with a speech from Mr. Harry Fu, Vice Chair of Global Business Committee and Managing Director of Global Business Department of the SSE, which will be followed by some warm remarks from Mr. Thilo Zimmermann, Local Chair of the Banking & Securities Working Group at the European Chamber and General Manager at SEB Shanghai, before giving the floor to Ms. Junrui Yang who will brief all the attendees on the history of the SSE. Then, Ms. Sophia Rui, Deputy Managing Director of the Global Business Development Department of the SSE, will be presenting their current project intended to extend the Shanghai-London Stock Connect to the pan-European market, so that European companies listed on Euronext N. V. can also issue Chinese Depository Receipts (CDRs) on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. Finally, attendees will have at the end the opportunity to ask questions and engage in a discussion.
The second part of the event will only be available to in person attendees. The Shanghai Stock Exchange has decided to offer the European Chamber and individuals that registered for the event the unique opportunity to tour the trading floor as well as the exhibition hall at their old location so companies have the opportunity to see first-hand the inner workings of the SSE as well as the history of the institution.
Do not miss this opportunity to get to see first hand and in person how the SSE operates, the history of the institutions as well as the most recent and significant developments that promise to bring new and interesting opportunities to European players.
