Dear Members,
The Finance & Taxation Working Group is pleased to invite you to the meeting “Electronic Invoices in the B2B Sector—First-hand Experience with China’s Nationwide E-fapiao Regime”, which is taking place on Thursday, March 4th, 10:00am to 12:00pm (GMT+8:00, China time) at the European Chamber’s Shanghai and Beijing offices, as well as online via Zoom. At this meeting, we will also hold the 2021-2022 chair elections.
The first part of this meeting will consist of a sharing by Yolanda Lv, Indirect Tax Partner of PwC Shanghai (bio attached). With STA Public Notice No. 22 issued in December 2020, China has set the tone to expand the e-invoice pilot regime for the B2B sector nationwide. Many companies are now making first experience with receiving or issuing electronic special VAT invoices in the new OFD format, even though paper invoices remain the beaten path. While the resulting co-existence of both invoice types has a significant impact on both business processes and the underlying IT system support, it also offers opportunities to automize, as well as improve, compliance processes.
Specifically, Yolanda’s sharing will update members on:
- The latest developments around the pilot regime
- The practical experience with this regime so far
- The challenges and opportunities for companies with European background
The second part of this meeting will consist of the 2021-2022 chair elections. Candidates running for the elections will introduce themselves and their goals for the Finance & Taxation Working Group over the following 12 months. Only Finance & Taxation WG members who had their registration confirmed for this meeting will have the right to vote in person or online, with one vote per company. Online voting instructions will be sent via email to individual attendees prior to the meeting.
