Dear Members,
The Energy Working Group is pleased to invite you to its 2021/2022 Elections and Position Paper discussion on Thursday, 11th March 15:00 to 18:00 (GMT+8:00, China time) at the European Chamber’s Shanghai and Beijing offices, as well as online via Zoom.
The first part of this meeting will consist of a sharing by Ms Yuan Lin, Senior Carbon Analyst at Refinitiv (bio attached) on China’s national Emissions Trading System (ETS). The ETS started operating on 1 February and during its first stage will cover China’s power sector.
The second part of this meeting will consist of the 2021/2022 chair elections and 2021/2022 Energy Position Paper (PP) discussion. Candidates running for the elections will introduce themselves and their goals for the Energy Working Group over the next 12 months. Only Energy WG members who have their registration confirmed for this meeting will have the right to vote in person or online, with one vote per company. Online voting instructions will be sent via email to individual attendees prior to the meeting.
Please kindly review the attached 2021/2021 Energy PP (in full pdf version and condensed mini PP version) and submit your initial feedback before Friday 26th February.

Working Group members interested in running for this year’s Chair elections, should take notice of the following:
Roles and Responsibilities
The Chairperson and Vice Chairs play a crucial role in driving the Working Group, including a leadership role in the drafting of the Position Paper, communicating key messages to Chinese and European government authorities and steering Working Group meetings. The desired characteristics of a Chair and Vice Chairs are a senior industry representative with relevant expertise and government contacts who has the time and willingness to support the Working Group. Previous participation in the Working Group is essential.
The maximum duration of Chairperson or Vice Chairperson of a Group is three consecutive years. Candidates are only eligible for Chair or Vice Chair positions if he/she is physically based in China. The Energy Working Group is going to elect one Chairperson and three Vice-Chairpersons (in the Beijing and Shanghai chapters).

· Short resume/CV and photo
· Motivation letter on why you wish to be elected Chair or Vice Chair, including:
- why you wish to be elected Chair or Vice Chair
- how your background and experience match the role
- the goals you have for the Energy working group over the following 12 months
- how you intend to utilise or share professional resources for the benefit of the Working Group
