Dear Legal WG Member,
We would like to remind you the next Legal Working Group Meeting which will be held on Friday, January 9th, 2009, 9:00 AM in the Chamber's Offices in Beijing.
Proposed Agenda
1. Corruption and commercial bribery: a key judicial interpretation was issued recently by the Supreme People's Court, which provides detailed guidance on the application of the PRC Criminal Law in cases of commercial bribery
2. Foreign exchange: SAFE's Foreign Exchange Regulations issued in August have integrated various previous legislative developments and introduced some new ones, many of which have some relevance to foreign investors.
3. Insurance sector: a large amount of new legislation in recent months, key areas including further lifting of restrictions on investment of insurance capital, and enhancing capital security management and supervision, partly aimed at addressing concerns arising from the recent global financial crisis.
4. The Enterprise Income Tax Law (EIT): this came into effect on 1/1/08 and since then various implementing rules have been issued, such as rules of new tax preference policies under the EIT law, and those relating to transfer pricing. The new EIT regime is therefore fairly complete and it might be good at some time to discuss this briefly.
Please confirm your participation at this meeting by replying to Mr. Bruce Fu at bfu@euccc.com.cn by 18:00 Thursday, January 8th.
