The EU SME Centre and the European Chamber are pleased to invite you to our next Working Group meeting on Friday 2 April via Zoom (you will receive a link within 24 hours of the event). This meeting will consist of two parts.
The first part of the meeting will be the 2021 Chair elections of the SME Forum. Only SME Forum members who had their registration confirmed for this meeting will have the right to vote, with one vote per company. The voting instructions will be sent via email to individual attendees prior to the meeting.
The second part of the meeting will be a presentation on China's SME policy landscape and future strategy by Ms. Xuanyi Song, Director of Policy Research Department, China Centre for Promotion of SME Development, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). In the context of the Two Sessions and 14th FYP, the following topics will be introduced and discussed:
- How to enhance SME growth (e.g. through access to financing, reduction of financial burden, improving business environment);
- How to promote innovation in SMEs;
- How to foster the role of SMEs in China's green policies;
- How to facilitate international cooperation on SME issues (e.g. by supporting innovative foreign SMEs, developing exchanges).

During this meeting we will hold 2021 chair elections. Forum members interested in running for this year’s Chair elections, should take notice of the following:
Roles and Responsibilities
The Chairperson and Vice Chairs play a crucial role in driving the development of the Forum. The desired characteristics of a Chair and Vice Chairs are a senior representative from an SME with relevant expertise who has the time and willingness to support the Forum. Previous participation in the Forum is essential. Before applying for the position of Chair or Vice-chair, we recommend that you obtain approval from your company.
The maximum duration of Chairperson or Vice Chairperson of a Forum is three consecutive years. Candidates are only eligible for Chair or Vice Chair positions if he/she is physically based in South China.
The SME Forum is going to elect one Chairperson and one Vice-Chairperson.
If you are interested in the positions of Chair or Vice Chair, please read the attached Starter Kit for Chairs and submit the following information to pdrucker@europeanchamber.com.cn before Thursday, 31 March, 6pm:
- Short resume/CV
- Motivation letter on why you wish to be elected Chair or Vice Chair, including:

- how you intend to utilise or share professional resources for the benefit of the Forum
