The Second Session of the 11th National People’s Congress came to a close last week, finishing 6 days earlier than usual to save on costs.
In a time of financial uncertainty, the economy was the dominant issue at this annual meeting of China’s parliament. Rumours swirled of a second stimulus package which never emerged, but Premier Wen did assure China-watchers that Beijing had plenty of ammunition at hand should the economic situation worsen and the first stimulus package fail to deliver the promised 8% growth.
The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China is delighted to invite you to a high profile breakfast seminar at the Kerry Center on March 24th where Alastair Campbell (APCO Worldwide) and Peter Wilson (British Embassy) will analyse and assess the outcomes of the 2009 Session of the National People’s Congress.
Alastair Campbell, a seasoned commentator on China’s economy, will assess how the NPC has shed further light on the Chinese government’s ongoing efforts to stimulate the economy and Peter Wilson, a highly experienced diplomat, will explain the political relevance of the NPC and related key developments.
Join us in this unique opportunity to exchange views with two of Beijing's most highly rated political and economic analysts.
