For many, China’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2001 meant to represent a crucial step that would eventually lead the country to convergence with Western economies and societies. However, the question of whether that will be really the case has remained contested and has in fact come to the forefront of policy discussions in the past few years, as a number deviations in the Chinese system have endured and, in some cases, seem to have been reinforced. In order to answer this perennial question, Rhodium Group and Atlantic Council have developed a new study, China Pathfinder, which aims to objectively benchmark China’s economic policy trajectory against that of open market economies.
The European Chamber is thus pleased to invite you to our upcoming Working Group meeting, where Ms Nargiza Salidjanova, China Project Director at Rhodium Group and co-author of the Pathfinder report, will provide an overview of the study.
