Dear Heating Working Group Member,

As you might be aware, the deadline for the first draft of the 2009 European Chamber Heating Position Paper (Lobby Paper) is the end of April. Please consult within your own company, both in China and Europe, and bring possible key recommendations to this meeting for discussion. A copy of last year’s Construction Working Group Paper is attached for your reference. The possible key recommendations which have been identified to date include:
1) Certification and testing of burners.
2) IP theft and IP infringement.
3) Lack of standards for condensing boiler technology.
4) Lack of standards for heat pumps.
5) Government incentives for renewable energy sources (e.g. solar).
At this meeting we will hold the 2009 Heating Working Group Elections. The Chair and Vice Chairs play a crucial role in driving the WG which includes the drafting of the Position Paper, communicating key messages to the Chinese and European Government, and steering the WG meetings. The desired characteristics of a Chair and Vice Chair are a senior industry representative with relevant industry expertise and government contacts that has the time and willingness to support the group. Previous participation in Chamber activities is also highly valued. These honorary positions represent a tremendous opportunity represent the Heating WG at very senior levels.
