2022 Kick-off Meeting & Chair Election Call for Candidates (Online + Offline)

Dear members,
European Chamber is delighted to invite you to join the kick-off meeting of the ICT Working Group and Cybersecurity Sub-working Group on Wednesday 9th March, 2022 from 2:30pm to 4:00 pm at the European Chamber Beijing Office and via Zoom.
The main topics for this meeting will be the revision of the activities of the WG in 2021, as well as the establishment of the WG priorities for 2022 and the discussion on the upcoming Position Paper. Thus, members are strongly encouraged to join the discussion and provide input on the key issues which will likely shape the activities of the WG this year. If you would like to join, send a message listing if you will be joining offline from Beijing or online to Ms Meredith Sun at intern002@europeanchamber.com.cn before Tuesday, 7th March COB. During this meeting we will hold our 2022-2023 chair elections. Working Group members interested in running for this year’s Chair elections, should take notice of the following:
Call for Candidates to Chair and Vice Chairperson – Roles and Responsibilities
The Chairperson and Vice Chairs play a crucial role in driving the Working Group, including a leadership role in the drafting of the Position Paper, communicating key messages to Chinese and European government authorities and steering Working Group meetings. The desired characteristics of a Chair and Vice Chairs are a senior industry representative with relevant expertise and government contacts who has the time and willingness to support the Working Group. Previous participation in the Working Group is essential. Before applying for the position of Chair or Vice Chair, we recommend that you obtain approval from your company. The maximum duration of Chairperson or Vice Chairperson of a Group is three consecutive years. Candidates are only eligible for Chair or Vice Chair positions if he/she is physically based in China. In case of more than one candidacies being presented for the same chairperson position, only members of ICT Working Group and Cybersecurity Sub-working Group who had their confirmed registration for this meeting will have the right to vote (online and offline), with one vote per company.

The desired characteristics of a Chair and Vice Chair are a representative with relevant expertise and government contacts who has the time and willingness to support the Forum. Previous participation in the Forum is essential. Before applying for the position of Chair or Vice Chair, we recommend that you obtain approval from your company. • Short resume/CV
• Motivation letter on why you wish to be elected Chair or Vice Chair, including:
- The position you are planning on running.
- Why you wish to be elected Chair or Vice Chair.
- How your background and experience match the role
- The goals you have for the GA Forum over the following 12 months
- How you intend to utilize or share professional resources for the benefit of the Forum
- Whether you hold a position in another Chamber or industry association.
Should you be interested in putting your name forward for election or nominate any candidate, please read the attached “The Starter Kit for Chairs” and send a short biography and a motivation letter, stating which position you intend to run for and why to Ms Zhang Ziting at ztzhang@europeanchamber.com.cn by COB, Wednesday, 2nd March 2022.

In accordance with European Chamber internal guidelines, another email will be sent to the Working Group prior to the election, with the biographies and motivation letters of all candidates attached. The duration of the term for both Chairs and Vice Chairs is one year. All elected Chairpersons must sign the Code of Conduct following the election.
