The European Chamber is delighted to invite you to a roundtable event and tour of the National School of Development (NSD) at Peking University, located in Chengze Garden, one of the well-preserved Qing Dynasty royal gardens near the Summer Palace, on 22nd March (Tuesday).
The recently-concluded National People’s Congress session sent several surprising messages to observers. The government set this year's growth target to 5.5 per cent, higher than market expectations; restrictive policies on the real estate sector were lifted; and decarbonisation goals were downplayed. Stimulus is still geared toward increasing government investment and easing tax and financial burdens on enterprises, with less emphasis on consumption. While the growth target is achievable, getting there will mean facing the headwinds of the government's restrictive zero-COVID policy.
In this roundtable discussion, Professor YAO Yang, dean of the NSD, will share his insights and observations on these new government policies and China's growth prospects for 2022.
This event is in English and will be off the record.
Due to limited seating, this event is open only to Advisory Council members, Executive Council members and working group chairs. To secure your seat, please register here and pay by COB 17th March (Thursday). Please note: no-shows will not be refunded.
