On 27th April, President Joerg Wuttke led a Chamber delegation to the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) of People’s Republic of China to present the Chamber’s 2008/2009 Position Paper to SFDA Commissioner Shao Mingli. Representatives from the European Chamber's Healthcare Equipment, Pharmaceutical, Food & Beverage, Cosmetics, and Standards & Conformity Working Group also attended the meeting. During the discussion, Commissioner Shao spoke highly of the Position Papers from past years and the role the European Chamber played in facilitating the close cooperation between health administrators in China and the European industry. Two sides also exchanged views on specific issues on how to align the current Medical Device regulation and standards with international practice, to shorten the timeline for clinical trials and to increase industry involvement in China’s newly released Food Safety Law.
