The European Chamber is delighted to invite you a workshop on the subject of “IPR Management for R&D and Product Development,” to be held in Shenzhen on Friday 22nd May.
The workshop will be started off with brief presentations from experts followed by Q&A and discussion on the points raised. This event should be of special interest to any companies that conduct R&D in Guangdong, engage in product development internally or with suppliers, or have technical information that they need to protect.
We encourage R&D managers, in-house and external counsel to contribute their knowledge and expertise and share best practices.
The presentations and discussion will be around the following topics:
Patent Mapping tools, patenting strategies, new Patent Law amendments Ownership of IP in R&D and joint development, employee issues, technology transfer, tax & royalties Audits of IP management processes Patent, trade secret and other types of IP protection and litigation
About the Speakers
Ms. Jing Lin - Partner, Rouse
Ling has been practising law since 1990. She has ten years experience working in the Office of Legislative Affairs of the State Council of the PRC, where her responsibilities included legislation concerning IP, science and technology, education, media, culture and pharmaceuticals. Ling established and leads commercial IP practices and she has extensive experience in advising international companies for commercial intellectual property issues, especially technology transfers into and out of China, IP management strategies, IP due diligence and audit, IP government lobbying projects, corporate establishment, R&D cooperation, sponsorship and plant variety rights protection in China. She is an active member of the Licensing Executives Society (LES) in China.
Mr. John Wu - Patent Attorney, Rouse,
John is a qualified Chinese lawyer and patent attorney with a B.S in Engineering and Juris Master from Tsinghua University. He has experience working in many areas of IP, including IP contract review and negotiation, patent drafting, trade mark search, copyright maintenance, domain name dispute and patent litigation. Prior to joining Rouse, he worked in the IP Department of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd, principally responsible for the management of a 7-PRC-professional legal team essentially supporting all the sales and purchase business in Huawei regarding IP issues.
Mr. Tom Grek - IP Manager, Rouse Legal (HK)
Tom is an English lawyer and holds a Masters degree in Electronic Engineering from Imperial College London. He has wide experience of IP lifecycle management gained in both private practice at leading IP firms in London (where he acted in Pozzoli v BDMO, now the standard test for inventiveness in the UK), and in industry, where he was IP counsel at the UK’s largest R&D laboratory, Qinetiq. Tom has particular expertise in the commercialization of technology assets, including product development, licensing, valuation, and strategic competition and standards issues. Tom is a member of the Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers. Tom is with Rouse Legal in Hong Kong, where he heads Rouse’s office in the HK Science Park.

We require 24 hours notice for cancellations, no-shows who fail to cancel before this time will be invoiced for the event. Registrations done after the deadline will be accepted only if space permits and are charged an additional 50 RMB walk-in fee.
