The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China is delighted to invite you to the third event in our Copenhagen Debate Environmental Seminar series, a 6-month program of discussions about the most urgent environmental issues facing China and the world in the run-up to December’s Copenhagen Climate Summit.
Urban development in Asia-Pacific is the biggest economic, environmental and social challenge facing the planet, driving the world's largest growth in greenhouse emissions. Sustainable green building and construction offers a viable and better way forward. Awareness of climate change has begun to have a major impact on the property industry around the globe and, despite the economic downturn, is set to not only continue but intensify in the future.
It is predicted half of all new construction in the world will take place in China for the next 10 to 15 years, where the government has set a target of achieving a 50% energy-efficient rating by 2010 for buildings in all cities and towns. By 2020, 65% of the buildings in those areas are expected to be energy-efficient. Greening up this vast sector is a tremendous challenge – but also presents a major opportunity.
Join us for the third session in the Copenhagen as we discuss Environmentally Friendly Construction: How You Can – and Why You Should - Green Up Your Facilities. Our panel of industry experts will identify for you the market chances and challenges presented by this drive towards energy efficiency. We will map out the legal environment for Green Buildings, including the incentives and penalties in place, the development of the market for Green Building Standards in China and finally how you can make sure your project meets Green Building standards.
