Mr Roberto Donà, China Outlook 202x - Back to the Future Attendees only |
Sponsors and partners
In recent years, confidence in the Chinese market has experienced a significant decline. Government policies have increasingly prioritised ideology over economic concerns, even as China grapples with mounting challenges, including the repercussions of its zero-COVID policy, escalating geopolitical tensions, surging debt levels, and sluggish consumption growth. This shift has cast doubts on the reliability, predictability, and efficiency that were once pillars of China's economic success.
Despite the enormous size and untapped potential of the Chinese market, European businesses have become more cautious. Except for the largest corporations, most have placed their planned investments in China on hold. Headquarters are now primarily focused on bolstering supply chain resilience, navigating the complexities of doing business in China, safeguarding their reputations, and ensuring global compliance. Many companies have gone as far as localising and isolating their China operations, often incurring significant costs, as they seek to mitigate an expanding array of local and global risks.
As we look ahead to 2024, pressing questions arise: How will these trends evolve? What are the prospects for the Chinese market, both at the industry and national levels? What measures must businesses adopt to maintain flexibility and resilience in this changing landscape? And what actions can Chinese policymakers take to restore investor confidence and enhance the business environment?
Join us on 5th December, where you'll have the opportunity to gain insights from prominent business executives and experts who will explore these vital topics and provide a deeper understanding of the shifting dynamics of doing business in China.
