Considering the obvious interest generated among the European operators by the liberalization of Trade and Distribution in China, the European Chamber would like to invite you to a presentation about the new rule allowing foreign invested enterprises (JV and WFOE) to expand their business to trade.
Mr Koppitz, lawyer and resident partner of the European law firm TAYLOR WESSING (http://www.taylorwessing.com), specialized in advising foreign investors on the Chinese legal environment, in China since 1995, will present the current state of play and clearly spell out the practical issues at stake in this opening environment. This presentation will examine the new opportunities and challenges following the release of the FICE measures.
Since 11th December 2004, China has allowed the establishment of Wholly Foreign Owned Enterprises (WFOEs) in the commercial sector. The new regulations allow 100% foreign ownership, for retail, wholesale, agency and franchising business with-according to the written rules - relatively low registered capital requirements. In addition, existing foreign invested manufacturing companies, including WFOEs, seem to have the opportunity to expand their business scope to include commercial activities in their business scope. How does the present approval practice look like?
In order to prepare this presentation according to your requests, we would like to invite you to answer the following questions by email: nanjing@euccc.com.cn, by Friday 22nd April (questions hereunder and here--attached):
- what is your experience or your intention regarding the establishment of FICEs and/or business scope expansion of existing manufacturing companies? - what are the problems you have faced?
More generally, please also do not hesitate to send us the questions you would like to be explained by the speaker.
