With an increasing focus on national security and China’s red lines becoming more blurred, the scope of issues deemed as ‘sensitive’ is increasingly unclear. This makes it challenging for international companies to conduct their business in China without having a mechanism in place that enables them to proactively achieve clarity on information sensitivity under the law. To provide analysis on recent legal developments, on Monday, 18th March, the Legal and Competition Working Group will host Mr Jeremy Daum, Senior Research Scholar in Law and Senior Fellow, Paul Tsai China Center, Yale Law School and founder of Chinalawtranslate.com. Members from all working groups are welcome to attend this portion of the event from 14:00-15:00.
The event is available in Beijing, Shanghai and online, but Mr Jeremy Daum will be speaking from Beijing.
From 15:00-16:30, the Legal and Competition Working Group will hold its 2024-2025 working group chair and vice chair elections. The meeting will also include an overview by Ms Sara Marchetta of the working group’s 2023 activities as well as the 2024-2025 working group Position Paper kick off. This portion of the meeting is only open to members of the Legal and Competition Working Group. If you would like to join the working group, please email Mr Austin Bliss at abliss@europeanchamber.com.cn.
