Dear Working Group members,
We are happy to invite you to the next meeting of the Legal Working Group in Shanghai which will take place on Thursday, 19th November, starting at 9am.
At this meeting we will have a presentation providing an update on China-related Arbitration by Salans LLP. Please see the full agenda below.
If you would like to attend this meeting, please register by sending notification to: trobinson@euccc.com.cn.
Agenda:
1) Presentation: ‘Update on China-related Arbitration’ by Brenda Horrigan, Partner, Co-Head - International Arbitration, Salans LLP, and Felix Hess, Associate, Salans LLP
2) Overview of the training program between the Shanghai Bar Association and Law Society of England and Wales
The European Chamber’s Legal Working Group helped facilitate a number of training sessions in 2009 by representatives of foreign law firms to the Shanghai Bar Association. This is proposed to continue in 2010 with three or four sessions examining anti-trust, anti-money laundering, IP and banking (all TBC). We will provide an overview the sessions held in 2009 and will welcome discussion on how we can help move this forward in 2010 and how Working Group members can be further involved.
3) Election of Working Group Vice-Chair (pending advance applications)
We would also like to announce that sadly Kirstie Nicholson has now left Shanghai and so has had to step down from her role as Legal WG Vice-Chair and Competition Sub-WG Chair. We would like to thank Kirstie for all her work with the European Chamber and specifically for being the driving force behind the creation of the Competition Sub-WG which has developed very successfully. We wish her all the best for the future.
As a result, we would like to invite Working Group members who are interested to apply for the vacant position of Legal Working Group Vice-Chair. Ideally this person should be someone who has been involved in the Legal Working Group up until now and also someone who would be able to take up leadership of the Competition Sub-WG (focusing on the AML). Any WG members wishing to express interest, or who would like more information about the role, can contact Tony Robinson (Tel: 021-6385 2023; Fax: 021-6385 2381; Email: trobinson@euccc.com.cn).
