As you may have seen from President Eskelund’s 15th March communication on Working Group optimisation, a Financial Services Working Group has been established, with Banking and Securities, Non-Banking Financial Institutions and Insurance as Sub-Working Groups under this platform. A new Sub-Working Group on Asset Management has also been created under this overall framework.
The European Chamber is pleased to invite you to the 2024 kick-off meeting of the Financial Services Working Group (WG). The meeting will be held on 17th April, 15:30 – 17:00, offline at the European Beijing and Shanghai Offices, as well as online. Please note this event is only open to industry representatives.
In addition to being the inaugural meeting of the newly established Financial Services Working Group, this meeting will also include the Financial Services (FS) WG Elections, as well as the elections of the Banking & Securities Sub-WG and the Asset Management Sub-WG.

Under the new structure of these working groups, candidates for the Vice-Chair position of the FS WG will automatically become the candidates for the Chair position of their respective Sub-WGs.
The process for electing Vice-Chairs of Sub-WGs will remain as in previous years. Should you be interested in putting your name forward for election, please send your CV and Motivation Letter, stating whether you intend to run for Chair or Vice Chair to Ms. Kalina Pateva at kpateva@europeanchamber.com.cn by 10th April at the latest. In your Motivation Letter please:
- State whether you wish to run for Chair of the FS WG, Vice-Chair of the FS WG [to also be Chair of Sub-WG], or Vice-Chair of the Banking & Securities OR Asset Management Sub-WG.
- State why you wish to be elected Chair or Vice Chair
- Provide a set of goals you have for the WG over the next 12 months as well as your intended contribution to the Position Paper. In accordance with European Chamber guidelines, another email will be sent to the Working Group prior to the election, with the biographies and motivation letters of all candidates attached.
An email detailing the candidates up for election will be sent to all members 3 days prior to the election.
The open positions are as follows:
1. Chair of Financial Services Working Group
2. Banking & Securities Vice Chair of FS WG, also to be Chair of Banking & Securities Sub-WG
3. Asset Management Vice Chair of FS WG, also to be Chair of Asset Management Sub-WG
4. Banking & Securities Vice Chair, Beijing
5. Banking & Securities Vice Chair, Shanghai
6. Asset Management Vice Chair/Local Chair (Beijing or Shanghai)
Please note that the position of Non-banking Financial Institutions FS Vice-Chair (also NBFI Sub-WG Chair) has been filled by the elected Mr Renato di Chiara of Deutsche Leasing. Ms Helena Chen of BNP Paribas and Mr Frank Pan of Siemens have been elected to the positions of NBFI Sub-WG Vice Chairs. The position of Insurance FS Vice-Chair (also Insurance Sub-WG Chair) has been filled by the elected Mr Pierre Laur of AXA. Ms Amy Zhu of ERGO and Mr Robin Gu of Allianz have been elected to the positions of Insurance Sub-WG Vice Chairs.
To vote in the election, you must register to vote with Ms Kalina Pateva (kpateva@europeanchamber.com.cn ) up to 24 hours before the election, and must be a member of the WG/Sub-WG of the election you wish to vote in. There may only be one vote per company – if more than one member from the same company would like to attend the meeting, please clearly indicate which member will vote in the election. Voting will take place after each candidate has had the opportunity to give a short election speech. The duration of the term for both Chairs and Vice Chairs is one year. All elected Chairpersons must sign the Code of Conduct following election.
