The European Chamber is pleased to invite you to the next working group meeting, a Closed-door Exchange on the Outcomes of the High-Level EU-China Working Group on Financial Regulation. It will take place on Wednesday, 29th May from 16:00 to 18:00 at the European Chamber Shanghai office. Following the meeting, the European Chamber invites you to continue the exchange over happy hour at the Highline bar, a five-minute walk from the European Chamber office.
The High-Level EU-China Working Group on Financial Regulation took place on 18th- 19th March and was chaired by People’s Bank of China vice-governor Xuan Changneng and Director General for DG FISMA John Berrigan. The European Chamber was heavily involved in the preparation leading up to the commencement of the Working Group, with the Banking and Securities, and Non-banking Financial Institutions sub-working groups submitting advocacy priorities that have been passed on to the Chinese authorities. A follow-up meeting to assess progress on advocacy points will be held in June or September of this year.
At this meeting, we will provide an overview of the topics raised by the EU side during the high-level working group as well as the responses from the Chinese authorities. Following the presentation of each advocacy point, we invite members to share their experiences and feedback, which will be crucial to follow-up efforts by the EU.
Please note that this meeting is open to industry representatives only and will be held offline only. Industry representatives include member companies directly involved in Banking & Securities or NBFI operations. Information shared during this meeting may not be copied, reproduced, or further distributed outside of the meeting. For members based in Beijing, a separate meeting will be conducted in the same format depending on interest.
