We would love to hear your feedback, and it just takes a minute.
As part of its 30/60 carbon neutrality goals, China set a goal for renewable energy to exceed fossil fuel capacity by 2025. Additionally, China’s Green Energy Certificate (GEC) scheme is set to enter a new stage, with it becoming the sole instrument to track renewable energy consumption in China. Alongside this, China is taking firm steps towards standardising business carbon practices. The country's top economic planner, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), has announced that the country will speed up the establishment of a product carbon footprint (PCF) system. On 29th May 2024, the State Council issued the 2024-2025 Energy Conservation and Carbon Reduction Action Plan, emphasising the acceleration of non-fossil energy development.
Meanwhile, the European Union (EU) is progressively implementing the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). This carries considerable implications for companies with a production footprint in the EU as well as those engaging in business with EU-based customers.
Driven by stringent carbon regulations and growing consumer demand, European companies operating in China must find medium and long-term solutions to reach their global corporate carbon neutrality pledges. This raises several questions for European companies: What are the implications of Chinese and EU decarbonisation legislation and policies? What are the industry strategies for low-carbon solutions? What steps are industry players taking in renewable energy? What are the challenges of green electricity certificates and green power trading, and how can they be addressed?
The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China invites you to the 2024 Carbon Neutrality Conference in Shanghai, an event aligned with the Chamber's Carbon Neutrality Action (CNA) Initiative. This initiative serves as a platform to identify areas of EU-China cooperation to achieve the 2060 carbon neutrality goals. The conference will address the questions raised and complexities of the journey towards a green future by providing actionable insights and innovative solutions for sustainable business.
