The European Chamber warmly invites you to join our exclusive breakfast roundtable on 2nd July (Tuesday) in Beijing featuring Prof. Keyu Jin(金刻羽), tenured professor of economics at the London School of Economics and Political Science, academic member of the China Finance 40 Group and non-executive board member of the luxury conglomerate Richemont and the global bank Credit Suisse.
A Beijing-born, US-educated professor at the London School of Economics, Keyu Jin works to connect East and West, with a particular interest in enhancing global understanding of what’s really going on within the Chinese political economy. Her research is on international economics--- such as why capital flows from poor to rich countries, how the global implications of U.S. monetary and fiscal policies have changed; as well as on how the rise of China impacts the global economy, from several perspectives ---trade, capital flows, global interest rates and saving, demographics, productivity and technology.
Although China’s economy is one of the largest in the world, Western understanding of the system and its functioning is often imperfect. In The New China Playbook, Keyu Jin burrows deep into the various aspects shaping China’s economic framework. From the far-reaching and unexpected consequences of China’s one-child policy to the government’s complex relationship with entrepreneurs, from its boisterous financial system to its latest bout of techno-nationalism, she reveals the various dynamics at play. While China’s rise on the world stage has stirred a wide range of emotions, one thing is certain: a deep understanding is essential for successfully navigating the global economy in the 21st century.
