Shedding light on the implications of “Copenhagen”
In December, world leaders came together to discuss the combat of climate change. Environment and energy issues were heavily debated. In the end, an “accord” was reached.
But what exactly is in the Copenhagen Accord? What will the governments of China, the EU and others do to work out their commitments? Gradually, “Copenhagen” will begin reaching businesses here in China. What we saw on the news and read in the papers will become a reality. So what will the implications be for businesses in China? What are the threats and opportunities they might encounter? And is the accord merely a precursor for more upheaval to come?
One of the first events of its kind in China, this event from the European Chamber will seek to provide answers to those questions. The event will provide insights to a wide spectrum of industries located in China as to what they can expect following the “Copenhagen Accord.”
A world renowned economist, an expert in Finance and Emissions and a global NGO, all present at the Copenhagen negotiations, will provide you with their take on the things to come. You will be able to discuss with them and ask questions, such as:
• What sort of laws and regulations can we expect from the Chinese (or the EU) government?
• How will the Green Climate Fund work and what kinds of opportunities will it give to my company?
• How are the NGO’s involved in monitoring the promised targets and how can I cooperate with them?
• What will countries do in 2010?; will there be a binding agreement and what will that mean?
