Dear Environment WG Members,
I am delighted to invite you to our next Environment Working Group meeting on 18 March. At this meeting Mr. Piers Carlson from Bureau Veritas in Shanghai will give a presentation introducing “Development of the LEED Certification trend in China”.
Following this presentation he will lead the discussion.
Summary
How has the market responded to the trendy 'Green Building' buzz? What are the real drivers for Green Buildings?
How are these projects going green and what are the difficulties?
The speaker will provide a look back at the evolution of Green Building in China over the past year, a discussion on what is driving the demand for Green Buildings and a look at a few case-study examples of LEED projects.
About the Speaker
Piers Carlson , LEED® AP Bureau Veritas; Environmental & Energy Efficiency Services, BU Manager
After joining the construction department of Bureau Veritas, Piers has worked on a wide range of energy efficiency and environmental projects. In particular, Piers has been implementing LEED projects in China since 2008 and has gained insight on various project types, including commercial and office development, production facilities, hotels.

At this meeting we will elect the Environment Working Chair and Vice Chair for the coming year. The Chairs play a crucial role in driving the Working Group which includes a leadership role in the drafting of the Position Paper, communicating key messages to the Chinese and European Government, and steering the Working Group meetings. The desired characteristics of a Chair and Vice Chair are a senior industry representative with relevant industry expertise and government contacts that has the time and willingness to support the group. I regret to announce that the current Chair, Mr. Fong Boon Loo (ERM), will not stand for re-election this year. I would like to thank him for his commitment and contributions in the past year.
