The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China is delighted to invite you to an afternoon seminar on outcomes of the recently concluded Plenary Session of the National People’s Congress 2010. This seminar will be held at the Kerry Center on April 1st.
At the 2010 meeting of the NPC, the economy was unsurprisingly the dominant issue. But there were also a range of other topics up for debate this year - the low carbon economy, hukou reform, income distribution, employment, social welfare and more.
To analyze the outcomes of these discussions, we are delighted to welcome two experts on Chinese politics:
John Russell, Executive Vice President Asia Pacific, Weber Shandwick ( bio): A veteran public policy expert and commentator on China’s economy, John will assess how the NPC has shed further light on the Chinese government’s ongoing efforts to achieve balanced, sustainable economic development.

Peter Wilson, Political Counsellor, British Embassy ( bio): A highly experienced diplomat, Peter will explain the political relevance of the NPC and related key developments.
At this unique session, they will analyze the plans and policy debates at this year’s NPC and offer perspectives on the political and economic challenges in the year ahead. In particular, they will address such questions as:
What are the key outcomes of the 2010 Plenary Session of the NPC? What are the political and economic implications NPC 2010? How will this impact companies and business environment in the country?
