The European Chamber is delighted to invite you to a special event organised in cooperation with the Shanghai Local Government to look at their ambitious plans for the development of the Hongqiao district.
A 86 Km2 Shanghai Greater Hongqiao Business Area is emerging in Puxi. In the center of this is a 26.6 Km2 Hongqiao transportation hub providing great convenience to reach not only the six neighbouring districts of Changning, Minhang, Qingpu, Jiading, Putuo and Songjiang, but also the entire Yangtze River Delta.
The total economic output over three thousand billion yuan in 2008 of these six districts in 2008 surpassed than that of Pudong (3100 billion yuan GDP in 2008). Besides this, Greater Hongqiao has significant advantages in terms of the business environment as eight modern service centres are located nearby, which includes Hongqiao Business Hub, Changning-Hongqiao Foreign Center, LinKong Economic Zone, Changfeng Ecological Business District in Putuo, Jiangqiao Business District in Jiading, Xu Jing Business Port in Qingpu, Jiuting Modern Service Industry Center in Songjiang, and Qibao Eco-business Zone in Minhang. Transportation infrastructure will include unparalleled air, rail, road, maglev and public transportation to create a truly world-class example.
The Greater Hongqiao will mainly include four districts: Changning, Minhang, Qingpu and Jiading. The so-called Greater Hongqiao is expected to be a high-end CBD to compete with Pudong. Using its advantages in transportation convenience, Greater Hongqiao focuses on the development of a business-based economy to complement Pudong’s finance-based virtual economy, building a brand new center in the west of Shanghai.
Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, as one of the key government agencies in charge of formulating development strategy and implementing plans of Shanghai’s domestic trade, foreign trade, and international economic cooperation, is leading the overall planning of Big Hongqiao.
This event will include consecutive translation.
