The Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs (ECFIN) of the European Commission is pleased to announce that, to mark the occasion of the Shanghai World Expo, it will organize a workshop focusing on "How the Euro and the Renminbi Can Contribute to a Sound and Sustainable Global Economic Recovery".
The scheduled date is the afternoon of July 3, 2010. The venue will be the conference room of the EU-Belgium Pavilion on the Shanghai Expo site.
The workshop will aim to bring together Chinese and European policy makers and market participants to discuss, in the light of the policy measures taken to cope with the global financial and economic crisis, the macroeconomic and financial challenges to achieve a balanced and sustainable economic recovery. A special focus will be on the role of the euro and the Renminbi as stabilizing factors and on EU-China economic cooperation in order to contribute to the development of smoothly functioning international financial markets.
