We are pleased to invite you to a joint event organised by the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, Business Europe and the EU-China Business Association for the launch of the European Business in China Position Paper 2010/2011 on Friday, 24 September 2010 between 11:30 – 13:30hrs in Brussels.
Since the launch of the European Chamber’s last Position Paper in September 2009, China has confirmed its rebound from the global economic crisis, expanding abroad while increasing its domestic growth.
This will be the Chamber’s 10th annual Position Paper. Despite some progress, many issues remain unresolved. European businesses have encountered new problems over the past year. The many specific examples in this publication illustrate the perception of our members that it has become increasingly challenging to operate in the Chinese market.
Drawing on the industry knowledge and expertise of the European Chamber’s 1,400 members, this year’s Position Paper presents Chinese and European policy-makers with more than 380 key recommendations. These recommendations focus on how business conditions for both Chinese and foreign companies can be improved. The goal in providing these recommendations is to contribute to China’s development towards a new level of balanced growth. These recommendations will create favourable conditions to shift China from an investment and export oriented economy to a more balanced economic structure based on growing domestic consumption, energy efficiency and high-valued added goods and services.
The issues discussed at the event will cover:
? Market access
? China’s response to the economic crisis
? EU-China trade relations
? European Foreign-Direct Investment and China’s balanced growth model
? Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), including ‘indigenous innovation’
? Government Procurement
At the Launch, senior figures of the EUCCC will present a summary of the key issues in this year’s Position Paper.
