Working Group Meeting
Date: Friday 2nd March, starting at 10:00 am
Venue: European Chamber Beijing & Shanghai Offices
European Chamber Beijing Office - C411A, Beijing Lufthansa Center, 50 Liangmaqiao Road, Chaoyang District
Dear Working Group Member,
We are delighted to invite you to the next Insurance Working Groups meeting, to be held on Friday 2nd March, starting at 10:00 am at the European Chamber office.
At this meeting we will have the honour and pleasure to welcome Mr. Richard Siu, Head of Insurance Consulting in China at KPMG, co-leader of the report Securing a Bright Future: China’s Insurance Sector and the Evolution of Bancassurance. He will present the main findings of KPMG’s report on the future of bancassurance channel in China. This distribution channel is becoming increasingly important as there are few insurance markets in the world currently experiencing the pace of change, competitive tensions, intensity of regulatory oversight and future growth potential as China’s insurance market.
At this meeting we will focus our discussions on the production process of the Position Paper 2012/2013. It is very important that members come to this meeting with a clear idea of how they would like the Position Paper 2012/13 to look like. That is why we would really appreciate it if you could check internally, particularly whether there is any operational issue that you would like to be included this year in the Position Paper.
Tentative Agenda:
1. Presentation by Mr. Richard Siu, Head of Insurance Consulting in China at KPMG on China’s Insurance Sector and the Evolution of Bancassurance
2. Identifying the Key Recommendations for the 2012/2013 Insurance WG Position Paper
3. Miscellaneous: Topics/Speakers for Insurance Working Group Meetings
4. Forward Agenda
If you wish to attend this meeting, please register with Ms. Handan Xiao at hdxiao@europeanchamber.com.cn before COB Thursday 2nd March 2012.
Position Paper 2012/2013: Key Recommendations
The Position Paper is the Chamber’s key lobbying document and is widely recognized by the Chinese Government, European Commission, and the media as the authoritative voice of EU business in China.
The paper itself is used extensively for policy considerations, bilateral discussions, cooperation projects and background information for the media and nearly all of the Insurance Working Groups activities in the following year. The value and importance of a well written and well represented Insurance Position Paper cannot be overstated.
Ahead of this meeting, we ask that all members review last year’s paper internally and identify in their company what the key issues are for this year. Keeping with the same structure as last year, individual member companies are requested to come to this meeting with a clear recommendation that the group should consider.
Members are also strongly encouraged to suggest any recommendations ahead of this meeting, particularly if they cannot attend in person to Mr. Xavier-Lluis Sans Powell at xsanspowell@europeanchamber.com.cn.
