Dear Working Group Member,
We are delighted to invite you to the next Legal & Competition Working Groups meeting, to be held on Friday 23rd March, starting at 9:00 am at the European Chamber office.
At this meeting we will have the honour and pleasure to welcome Ms. Susan Munro, Partner and Ms. Hannah Cao, Associate at Steptoe & Johnson. They will be presenting on the legal and regulatory trends for 2012.
At this meeting we will focus our discussions on the production process of the Position Paper 2012/2013. It is very important that members come to this meeting with a clear idea of how they would like the Position Paper 2012/13 to look like. That is why we would really appreciate it if you could check internally, particularly whether there is any issue that you would like to be included this year in the Position Paper.
Tentative Agenda:
1. Presentation by Ms. Susan Munro and Ms. Hannah Cao, Steptoe & Johnson on Legal and Regulatory Trends in China 2012
2. Identification of Key Recommendation and Lead Pens for Position Paper 2012/13
3. AOB
If you wish to attend this meeting, please register with Ms. Handan Xiao at hdxiao@europeanchamber.com.cn before COB Thursday 22nd March 2012 indicating whether you will be attending in Beijing or Shanghai.
Position Paper 2012/2013: Key Recommendations
The Position Paper is the Chamber’s key lobbying document and is widely recognized by the Chinese Government, European Commission, and the media as the authoritative voice of EU business in China.
The paper itself is used extensively for policy considerations, bilateral discussions, cooperation projects and background information for the media and nearly all of the Legal & Competition Working Groups activities in the following year. The value and importance of a well written and well represented Legal & Competition Position Paper cannot be overstated.
Ahead of this meeting, we ask that all members review last year’s paper internally and identify in their company what the key issues are for this year. Keeping with the same structure as last year, individual member companies are requested to come to this meeting with a clear recommendation that the group should consider.
Members are also strongly encouraged to suggest any recommendations ahead of this meeting, particularly if they cannot attend in person.
Please find attached last year’s Insurance Position Paper for your reference.
