1. Guest Presentation on ‘A Time of Transition for China’s Auto Sector: Insights from KPMG’s Global Automotive Executive Survey 2012’ presented by Mr. Andrew Thomson, Partner and Head of the Firm’s Automotive practice, KPMG China. (Speaker will join the meeting at the Chamber Shanghai Office)
Andrew Thomson is a Partner with KPMG China and Head of the Firm’s Automotive practice. He also has additional responsibilities as the Deputy Chief Operating Officer for KPMG in Asia Pacific.
Andrew’s first experience of doing business with automotive companies came when he moved to Russia from the UK in 1995 – firstly with another Big 4 consulting organization and then joining KPMG Russia in mid-1996. Altogether, he spent four years based in Moscow working with a range of auto/industrial suppliers and manufacturers across the country, including an extended period as part of a combined audit and consulting team helping to restructure a major truck manufacturer. He moved to Asia in 1999, and then spent time developing major Regional client accounts (from Singapore) and leading KPMG’s consulting business in Thailand, before moving to Shanghai early in 2005.
Andrew’s current role includes representing China on KPMG’s Global Automotive Steering Group, which leads the Firm’s product, service and thought leadership development initiatives worldwide. He has also produced a number of China-specific thought leadership papers, covering issues across the automotive value chain. Andrew personally leads a number of KPMG’s major automotive client relationships for China and the Asia Pacific Region, including for US and European suppliers and OEMs.
2. Chair & Vice Chair Annual Election of Auto-components WG Shanghai: Candidacy Speeches and Voting by members
To apply, each prospective candidate should submit 1) the positions intended to run (chair or Vice Chair), 2) a short bio and 3) a motivation letter by 31st March to Penny Zhao at yzhao@europeanchabmer.com.cn .
Voting for the election must be conducted in person at the Working Group meeting (one vote per company) after each candidate has been given an opportunity to give a short speech on why they would like to run for election. The duration of the term for both Chairs and Vice Chairs is one year. All elected Chairpersons must sign the attached Code of Conduct following election.
Please kindly note that Candidates that who are from Non-EU companies (company’s global headquarter registered outside of EU Member States), if elected as Chair or Vice Chair by members at the meeting, have also need to be approved by the Board Members of the European Chamber. Once approved, he/she will officially be announced as the Chair or Vice Chair of the Working Group. Or else, a re-election will be conducted.
