For more information, please find the slides attached.
Q&A
Q1: How long does the evaluation process take and are the programs mandatory or voluntary?
Ms. Chuan: The audit/assessment depends on the size of the company but normally takes about one month for a company of 40 people. The whole program lasts one year. Whether it is mandatory or not depends on the management and the culture of the company.
Q2: In the Chinese traditional culture, people choose not to tell the patients the serious disease (such as cancer) they have because they think it will lower the patients’ capacity. What are your thoughts on this?
Ms. Chuan: This is a cultural issue. Not knowing about the diseases will lead patients to rejecting positive ideas. To improve the awareness of the diseases and health issues is very important and effective in treatment. The cancer club in Shanghai is a good example of an organization that works with these types of issues.
2. Discussion on HR Plan for 2013
Ms. Elisa Mallis, Chair of the Beijing HR Forum, debriefed the earlier discussions on the idea about a new brand for the HR Forum as well as all its related events. Several attendees proposed some new ideas. Below are some of the ideas:
People Focus, It’s All About People, People Edge, People Matters, etc.
The Chamber welcomes all new ideas. If you have some suggestions, please send them to Ms. Anna Stalnacke at astalnacke@europeanchamber.com.cn.
Then the Chair debriefed the schedule for 2013. Elisa said that besides the monthly forum, which contains various presentations, reports and data sharing, the Forum will hold more learning events such as workshops. Also, the Forum will give SMEs more opportunities to speak and share information in the meetings.
The Chair called for more new ideas for the theme of next full-day conference in June, 2013. Several ideas have been discussed and the theme is still open for discussion. Below are some of the ideas discussed in the meeting:
Innovation, Generation Y, Team Communication, People development as a cost vs. as an investment, social media etc.
Should you have more new ideas, please send to Ms. Anna Stalnacke at astalnacke@europeanchamber.com.cn
