The European Chamber is delighted to invite you to an afternoon seminar on customs. In an attempt to adapt to the challenging global economic landscape, we have seen recent changes in terms of more stringent audits and reviews and, simultaneously, an introduction of more trade facilitation initiatives. This event will highlight key policies and issues to be taken into account when importing to and exporting from China today. The topics that will be covered include tariff and non-tariff measures, duty relief programmes, customs dispute resolution and trade facilitation, examined from a general customs perspective and also with a specific focus on customs bonded areas.

Sylvia has been advising clients on various aspects of customs and international trade, including trade compliance and planning, compliance assessment, dispute/audit/investigation resolution, process improvement, optimizing preferential trade arrangements, supply chain restructure, and implementing customs valuation and tariff classification solutions.
Sylvia spent two years from 2008 to 2010 in PwC San Jose, Northern California where she serviced clients on customs and trade issues relating to both US inbound and outbound investments.
Prior to joining the Customs & International Trade practice in 2003, Sylvia was in the PwC Tax & Business Advisory practice in Shanghai where she provided China tax and legal consulting services to companies investing in China.

Mr. Zhao Jun is highly knowledgeable about Chinese laws and regulations relating to importation and exportation, as well as their practical application. He assists clients in accurately defining the issues, analyzing risks, proposing effective and compliant solutions, and mitigating exposures. He also represents clients in engaging China Customs and other regulatory authorities on various issues.
Mr. Zhao is formerly a senior official with China Customs. Prior to retirement, he was responsible for various Customs areas, including duty reduction/exemption, risk analysis and post-clearance audits.
