The European Chamber is pleased to invite you to the next urbanisation series event on power generation and transmission. It will take place at the European Chamber Shanghai on Tuesday, 9 July, 9am-11:15am, with registrations beginning at 8:30am.
China’s power generation market witnessed an unprecedented level of growth in installed capacity in the past decade, as the country struggles to ensure that it has sufficient and secure levels of power supply to meet the demands of strong and sustained economic growth. China’s electricity demand growth rate was double the country’s GDP output in this period, although May 2013 data released by the National Bureau of Statistics noted a recent drop in power generation output, as a result of the economic slowdown. In the field of power transmission and distribution, China is the fastest growing market and will become the world’s largest single market for HVDC transmission technology over the next 20 to 30 years.
As the Chinese economy continues to grow and electricity demand with it, the power industry faces a number of major challenges over the next decades that also provide a host of potential market opportunities. This event will specifically outline and discuss current market opportunities and challenges that businesses face in the power generation and transmission market in China.
We are delighted to welcome keynote speaker Mr. Chi Yong Ning, Chief Engineer, Renewable Energy Department, China Electric Power Research Institute (CEPRI). CEPRI is a Beijing-based comprehensive research institute and subsidiary of State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC).
