The seminar will introduce the critical New PRC Company Law - which took effect on 1st January 2006 - and how it articulates with the JV and WOFE regulations.

About Speakers, Dr. Bjorn Etgen is Equity Partner and Head of China Practice of Beiten Burkhardt, a German law firm with offices in Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai. After heading the Beiten Burkhardt Bejing office, he is now based in Hong Kong.
Specialized in Corporate Law, he has more than 10 years China experience and used to be Chairman of the EUCCC Legal Working Group in Beijing before relocating to Hong Kong. For a biography of Dr. Bjoern Etgen, please click here.
Ms. Anthea Wong is Partner in Pricewaterhouse Coopers Hong Kong office where she is Lead Partner of CTA Services Group, which belongs to Tax Services.
In this position Ms. Wong deals with all issues relating to corporate set-up and restructuring.
Ms. Wong is also in charge of the so-called Pathfinder Services, which is related to market entry strategies for new investors to China.
The SMEs Working Group offers a platform for European SMEs to network, exchange views and experience, and join efforts to relay their concerns to the Chinese Government. The SMEs Working Group is event-driven, aiming at providing regular updates and practical information about developments in a Chinese business environment particularly challenging for moderate size operators.
The Finance & Taxation Working Group includes the taxation departments of multinational companies as well as international CPA firms operating in China. It meets regularly in an effort to engage Chinese authorities with a view toward sharing experiences and strengthening China's taxation, finance and accounting rules.
The Legal Working Group consists of lawyers from Europe-based law firms registered with the Ministry of Justice (MOJ), European lawyers practicing in China and in-house counsels for European corporate entities with a presence in China. Its aim is to mobilize the legal community with a view toward promoting greater legal transparency and awareness of legal developments, which are key factors affecting foreign investment in China. Legal experts also use the Working Group as a forum to exchange information and know-how across various industries.
